QWERTY Or Not, Here I Come

I type on a Dell by Logitech keyboard that is over five years old. But for years now many of the keys have been devoid of letters. As in, they are blank, black keys bearing absolutely no visual indication of what might happen if you press that key. Luckily I memorized all the keys in eleventh grade and can ~~bhype~~ type without looking! LOL!

Just so you know!

In case you were wondering, here are the keys that are missing or partially missing: W (only the left two-thirds of this "character" remains) ... E and R are G-O-N-E ... T is only the top bar, with not a leg to stand on ... U are fading fast in the lower right quadrant ... O looks like a C, only capsized ... A, S, D, and F are AWOL ... L is just a blip at the very top of its former self ... C is a no-see ... V sports a sizeable divot ... N and M have run off together ... the < sign is almost history.

I have a black Dell keyboard too and missing the same letters. Sounds like we both learned typing way back when on the old fashioned typewriter with blank keys, with hands on the home row a s d f j k l ;

YEP! That be it! Is it possible our keyboards were separated at birth? Or do all Dell keyboards behave in this same shoddy manner? We should conduct a survey!

Had my laptop not overheated and died I'm sure my keyboard would have suffered the same fate. As it was the space bar, G, and I buttons only worked about 1/3 of the time.

Sigh... oh well. YAY for new PC with new keyboard.

I've got a Sony Vaio laptop that is three years old (which probably makes it about 80 in computer years) and I love all the worn off keys. Other people look at it aghast and wonder how I can type, but I do it by touch anyway. I couldn't for the life of me tell you where specific keys are on the keyboard. Oddly, though the keys that are worn off on mine are K, L, M, and N. The C, H, J, and S are halfway gone. A,E and U are fading....I'd think that the vowel keys would be goners first!

Charlotte ... 80 in computer years ... LOL! I wouldn't trade my faded keyboard for a new one ... this one "feels" right and I never look either! It's just getting broken in ...
