The herrings are awake.
What's all the singing between? --
Is it with whispers and kissing? --
I've listened into the least waves.
The grass says what the wind says:
Begin with the rock;
End with water.
When I stand, I'm almost a tree.
Leaves, do you like me any?
A swan needs a pond.
The worm and the rose
Both love
Rain.
O small bird wakening,
Light as a hand among blossoms,
Hardly any old angels are around any more.
The air's quiet under the small leaves.
The dust, the long dust, stays.
The spiders sail into summer.
It's time to begin!
To begin!

Lovely blog, Jenny. What made you decide to take the first step?
Love your photography, too.
@Nancy ... Hello again! That's a long conversation but with regard to writing, I guess the short answer is that someone (actually several someones) encouraged me, telling me that I had a way with words and was a natural-born blogger. As to photography, for our 30th wedding anniversary in 2009, our daughter Erica put together a gift basket for us and in it was a Nikon Coolpix point-and-shoot camera. Previously I'd had a Sony digital camera that I got when Melanie, our first grandchild, was born in 2004. But it was obsolete and not working anymore in 2009. I took that Nikon Coolpix out of that basket and I bet I took fifty thousand pictures with it. Some have been published in magazines. For Christmas of 2010 my children got me a Nikon DSLR (A "real" camera, haha), and I cannot think of anything more therapeutic (outside of reading the Bible) than holding it in my hand and walking around taking pictures (mostly in historic cemeteries, which as a taphophile is my hobby). I don't get to do much of that in the summer months but pretty soon I'll be at it again!
