Merry Christmas, Darlings
angel, manger, star and lamb,
as the rural carrier,
driving the snowy roads,
hears from her bundles
the shuffle of sandals,
the clopping of camels.
At stop after stop,
she opens the little tin door
the shepherds and wise men,
the donkeys lank and weary,
the cow who chews and muses.
And from her Styrofoam cup,
on the dashboard, leading her
ever into the distance,
there is a hint of hazelnut,
and then a touch of myrrh.

I feel so sorry for my mail lady as I order a lot of stuff on-line. She's a trooper for sure and I always tuck a Christmas card in the mail box for her with a surprise bit of $$ inside.
I like that poem - it's descriptions make me think! And I love the photos! What an adorable little girl!
@Judy ... that's so thoughtful of you and I'm sure she appreciates it. Most people take the mail carrier for granted. Theirs is not an easy job. xoxo
@Mari .. Dagny is so excited to "make Christmas," we can barely keep her still! xoxo
Sweet pictures! I'm glad I dressed her up on a regular Tuesday to "make Christmas".
Every house should have a Dagny to keep the celebration bright! I love all her expressions of joy!
I bake cookies for our mailman every year and put money in a Christmas card. He is kinda grumpy but I always notice that when Christmas nears, he has a spring in his step. Could it be the smell of cookies? :)
@Audrey ... IKR. Serendipity.
@Cheryl ... I know the smell of cookies puts a spring in MY step so I'll go with that option. You're a gem! xoxo
