The boy baby parade

Rhett posed by the hospital fountains on the day his little brother was born
He's here.
I refer to our latest addition to the grandkid lineup.
Introducing Jack Elliot Porter, born a few minutes before six o'clock on the morning of Thursday, September 28, 2023.
He weighed seven pounds, one ounce, and was a touch over nineteen inches long.
Jack Elliot Porter
He will go by Jack Elliot. Double name. Call him merely "Jack" and risk incurring the pirate's wrath. Not to mention, don't let his mother hear you. If you're short on time, in commenting or texting you have my permission to type JE.
Long story. For another day.
Now TG and I have eight grandchildren: four girls and four boys.
Oh so you like statistics? Here you go:
In the last six months, my sister Kay and I have greeted four new grandsons.
Hers: Andrew Sebastian, born on March thirty-first in Cleveland, Ohio, son of my niece Joanna and her husband Jacob; and Leland Cameron, born on September twenty-second in High Level, Alberta, Canada, son of my nephew Marc and his wife Whitney.
Erica is grateful, relieved, and flourishing
Mine: Guy Preston, born on August twenty-fourth, son of our Andrew and his wife Brittany; and Jack Elliot, (A/K/A new kid on the block), born five weeks to the day later, second son of our Erica and her husband Chad (Cherica).
(Both Leland and Jack Elliot were due on October second but couldn't wait that long.)
It's what they call an embarrassment of riches.
But no one is complaining.
Erica and Jack Elliot are doing spectacularly well. They are at home. Chad and Rhett are faring splendidly too.
Dagny Clare is beside herself with joy at her new cousin's birth
And as soon as I hit publish, I'm going over there to hold Jack Elliot, who no doubt is wondering where I am.
It's a good thing that I know where I am. I met Cherica at the hospital at midnight Wednesday night and Jack Elliot arrived six hours later.
Three hours after that, I went home to freshen up and feed my pets, then went back to the hospital.
(Someday I will tell Jack Elliot that he was born on the first truly cool morning of a shining new autumn -- overcast and breezy early, partly cloudy, mild and continued breezy as the day waned.)
I went to bed at eight thirty that night, having been up for more than thirty-six hours.
And I hope you saw that because I will not be doing it again.
Such a wee lad to have caused such a kerfuffle
Mercy. Sleep deprivation: what a concept. The struggle is real.
So it's a good thing these beautiful mamas have the bairns while they are young and can handle such things.
Thank you for your prayers and well-wishes -- both the ones we have already received, and the ones that are sure to follow.
And that is all for now except to say, goodbye lovely eventful Sepbember, hello beautiful and long-awaited October.

Congratulations to all!!!!
Congratulations, he is beautiful!! Sleep deprivation is awful. How did Dagney hurt her inner elbow? And I want to know the story of why you and his mother do not like his name!
@Skunky ... thank you friend! Another great conservative is born. xoxo
@Ginny ... Dagny says to tell you that she scraped her arm on their kitchen table! Don't ask me how that happened, haaha! Oh mercy no, we LOVE his name! It's just that Erica wanted to name him Elliot with a different middle name, and Chad wanted to call him Jack. So they compromised and chose Jack Elliot, but Erica stipulated the strict condition that he goes by both names -- a double name, as it were. And I completely agree because like her, I love the name Elliot. So we are poised to (gently) correct anyone who tries to call him simply "Jack" because it's "Jack Elliot" and we will accept no substitutions, haaaha! We are prepared to be stubborn. xoxo
You are blessed indeed! 2 beautiful boys, 5 weeks apart.
I think Jack Elliot is a fine name, I really , really like it. I'm sure you will have to correct people, but sooner or later it should stick.
I already love that little face, and I want to kiss those cheeks!
@Mari ... YES! I think it's a fantastic name and it suits him very well. Erica had to give a little but she will be fine and really, nothing we could call him would make him any less adorable. But we are adamant that it's Jack Elliot or ELSE! Haaahaha! Some gentle correction will be necessary but probably not more than once per person. I'll kiss those little cheeks a couple of times from Aunt Mari! xoxo
Oh how wonderful to have cousins born around the same time! Such a happy time for you and your sister. Congratulations.
Wonderful news! Grandchildren are the best gift.
Congrats on the new wee bairn.
What a blessed month it was! Congratulations to all!
This is my 'brain that enjoys symmetry speaking' but you know, of course, that if another grandchild is born in the future, someone else will also need to have another child to keep the 50-50 male-to-female ratio. Unless someone has fraternal twins, male and female. Just, you know, helping the family to keep the lovely symmetry, lol.
Enjoy all your blessed grands!
Oh baby.. so cute!
I love the idea of a double name but when I'm yelling I doubt I'll ever have the patience to scream out both.. lol.
Eventful September indeed! Congrats to all the mums and dads! I like all the boy names between you and your sister; they sound like fine, upstanding young men-to-be!
The latest great nephews and niece I have are named Louis, which I like, and, get this-Wilbur, and his sister, Mabel. Now, that’s reaching waaaay back!
Enjoy those precious new littles, and all the older ones, too! So many blessings!
@Spirit ... isn't it though? What fun they will have growing up together! Thanks for stopping by, and for your congratulations! xoxo
@Liz ... Aren't they just? I can't believe how happy they make us. xoxo
@AC ... Thank you, sir! xoxo
@Maryellen ... I could tell you the funniest story about that symmetry thing but I won't do it here, now. Suffice it to say that I am with you 100% on that! If one more has one more, it will be all messed up. I won't tell you what. But it's sort of interesting. Let's just say I do hope for more grands but if it were between one and two, I'd rather it be two! For an even ten. Hahahahaha xoxo
@Hena ... OK I will just say here, stay tuned because that may not end up being a problem. Hahaha hate to be mysterious but there we are. All will be made clear in my next post. xoxo
@Donna G. ... Aren't they just wonderful names? And all those little guys belong to the sweetest little families. My sister has seven children and twenty-four (counting little Noah, in heaven) grandchildren. We have four children and eight grandchildren! I think we are ahead, haaahaha! Just kidding. Louis sounds precious but Wilbur and Mabel? They sound like great people! I'd like to meet them. xoxo
Congratulations to all! What an eventful September you had. They're going to be so close growing up I'm sure. He is just adorable and I love the name Jack Elliott. Enjoy kissing and hugging that sweet baby.
Welcome to the world Jack Elliott! He is adorable! Congratulations to all and glad all are well! Curious to hear the story on the name thing! Reminds me of when my nephew James was born. His dad wanted Jimmy and his mom wanted Jamie. The whole thing turned into a ridiculous family thing whereas you had to be very careful on what to call him depending on who you were talking to or you would be sternly corrected!!! It was not fun! Anyway, four grandsons and four granddaughters! You are so blessed my friend but I know you know that already! XO!
@Lori ... I love the name Jack Elliot too and I was so excited about having a grandchild with a double name, especially one that cute. Too bad they've changed it, hahaha! Mercy. Never a dull moment around here. But the hugs and kisses are super precious no matter what his name! xoxo
@Jeanette ... thank you and I have just posted the story on the name thing, haaaha! It's a doozy of a yarn. But all is well. xoxo
Congratulations to all ... continued prayers for healing for Erica... and growth for baby... and love to go around and around in your family. I just love your family Jenny!!
God Bless!!
Carla
@Carla ... The feeling is mutual my friend. How kind you are to say such nice things. Everyone is doing fantastically well so those prayers have already been answered. God bless your family as well. xoxo
Congratulations on the newest grandson, he is adorable.
You are blessed Jenny by these beautiful grandchildren. I just showed Bob Elliot's photo (the last on the page). We both sat, looked, and grinned. Perfectly gorgeous.
@Barb ... Halllloooooo my dear friends! Hahaha I think of you so often, you would not believe. I'm so glad you took the time to read some of my posts! YES that little Elliot is quite something! We are all in his thrall, one hundred percent. Isn't it wonderful? Speaking of big handsome boys, I bet Sam is nearly taller than you now, haha! xoxo
