Snapshot Saturday: Watery ways
I never get tired of watching the water splash and gurgle and sluice from the multi-layered burbling fountain at Finlay Park in Columbia.
The water bubbles up and cascades down from here:
Then it goes here ... I'm not too sure what the actual function of the gate might be, but it looks pretty:
The water finds egress in a minimalist way I think Frank Lloyd Wright would have loved. There's a welcoming pool at the bottom.
It's cool.

I like it too! It's cool in more ways than one.
Great pictures as always.
You mentioned Frank Lloyd Wright. I love his architecture, the style of everything about the homes he designed. HGTV will occasionally have specials about his work and I love to watch.
Mari ... I knew you'd see that with your photographer's eye!
Debbie ... Agreed. I've always wanted to go to Fallingwater in Pennsylvania, or even to Taliesin. Maybe someday I'll have the opportunity. I like the HGTV specials on FLW too! He was an out-there kind of dude!
Very pretty! Love that design, just diving right off there like that. I would imagine that the gate is to hold back poor saps like me that would trip and fall in, then tempting fate for a wild water ride.
Donna M. ... I know, right? Me too. I'd like to walk to the end and just look over, but no doubt I'd fall and break my neck! To add to the danger factor, there are actually stone steps winding around that fountain! They're always wet (when the fountain is on) and I wonder if anyone ever actually uses them as steps! Danger, Will Robinson ...
I love laminar flow. So much order in the movement of random molecules.
Have you been to Chimney Rock in NC? Nice falls there. If you've seen the last of the Mohicans, you seen em already. Being there I just felt (or pretended) like I was in the film.
Beautiful area near Asheville.
You always put up great pics Jenny. :-)
