SkyWatch Friday: Lake Murray sunset
I was privileged to witness this majestic scene on the shores of Lake Murray in South Carolina on July 25, 2010.
Lake Murray is a manmade lake with over five hundred miles of shoreline. These photos were taken on the Lexington side of the dam, about three miles from my house.

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Great is Thy faithfulness,
Great is Thy faithfulness,
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.

Gawgeous. There, was that a good Southern accent?
Beautiful views thanks for sharing with Sky Watch Friday.
Oh my that is gorgeous looking sky. Love it!
I would have loved to have been sitting on one of those benches, just admiring the wonder before me....
Beautiful. What a spectacular sunset.
What a beautiful sky! Love the song you put with it too.
Why is everyone commenting on sunset photos when there is a new, smiling photo of JENNY in the top-right corner of the screen?? :)
Sue ... perfect! 'cept it's spelled GAW-jus! LOLOLOL
Pearl Maple ... thanks for stopping by!
Manang ... it was a treat to be there and see it!
Lesley ... funny you should say that! The park that gives access to the benches CLOSES AT EIGHT O'CLOCK and they wouldn't let us go down there. I had to take those pictures standing behind a chain-link fence. I was so frustrated. BUT THE SUNSET STARTS GETTING GOOD AT EIGHT FIFTEEN! I pointed out. My protests fell on deaf ears (guardshack guy).
Jossie ... it certainly was. Very special.
Mari ... don't you love that hymn? I know you do.
Kev ... LOL I needed a new photo (with shoulders and background!) to accompany a magazine article. I'm going to be published in an upcoming issue of Floral Management ... my article about the anniversary flower debacle! So since the photo looks summery and we're like to melt down here, I put it up! Plus I had just gotten my hair cut and colored yesterday, LOLOL ...
Well, Kev, you're right, I did notice the new photo, I just didn't comment on it. I also like the little emoticon guy, is he new too?
Sue, naw, that little guy's been sitting there writing since day one! He's yet to produce a thing worth reading, though.
Stunning sunset sequence. Truly beautiful.
How Beautiful!! Your photos are Always gorgeous Girl! Have a great weekend!
hughugs
What a spectacular sky! Wowsers!
Wonderful lakeside photos. The last one is my favorite with the rays of sun poking through.
Carver ... thank you! You're a pretty adroit shutterbug yourself!
Donna ... thanks luv and you do the same!
Donna M. ... it was truly special. I was lucky to be there.
Al ... that's one of my favorites too! Thanks for stopping by.
I saw a beautiful rainbow today, both ends of it. Hubby said, perhaps you will see the pot of gold at the end. I said, no Obama will just take it or tax it, ha.
Have a great weekend.
LOLOL Debbie ... and you'd be right! Rat fink that he is. Midterm elections are coming at him like a loaded freight train!
OMG! I was looking online for pictures of Lake Murray at sunset and a picture of Andrew popped up. I was kind of shocked so I had to check it out. I haven't seen him since graduation. I hope you all are doing great! Will you tell him that I said hi?
Cheers!
Kristin Kepler
Kristin, will do! Andrew's not home very often at all, but he's doing very well at Bible college and in the Air Force. He'll be glad to know he's still remembered around the Midlands! I hope you're doing well. Say hello to your parents for me.
