The son and heir has arrived in the Middle East and is getting acclimated, once again, to the desert conditions.
We would appreciate your prayers for his safe return home in mid-September.
Once I sent Andrew the following lines, which, although written about a fictional detective over seventy years ago, always remind me of him:
Down these mean streets a man must go who is not himself mean,
who is neither tarnished nor afraid. He is the hero; he is everything.
He must be a complete man and a common man and yet an unusual man.
He must be, to use a rather weathered phrase, a man of honor, by instinct,
by inevitability, without thought of it, and certainly without saying it.
He must be the best man in his world and a good enough man for any world.
He is a common man or he could not go among common people.
He has a sense of character, or he would not know his job.
He will take no man’s money dishonestly and no man’s insolence
without a due and dispassionate revenge.
He is a lonely man and his pride is that you will treat him as a proud man
or be very sorry you ever saw him.
He has a range of awareness that startles you, but it belongs to him by right,
because it belongs to the world he lives in. If there were enough like him,
I think the world would be a very safe place to live in,
and yet not too dull to be worth living in.

Amazing quote...
Well describing an amazing man, I am sure.
My thanks to him, for his Service!
And my thanks to you, his family.
Who also Serve, when a Warrior goes off to war.

@Luna ... Yes we do, in ways most uncomfortable! Haaahaha just wanting him to come home. xoxo
Many prayers for your sweet son. Now, and always.
I understand about the family as Luna wrote.
God bless you all, Jenny.

That is an amazing quote, and from what I know of Andrew, it fits him well. It also fits his family - you raised him to be an honorable man and though you are not with him in person, I know that you and TG, and your girls as well are with him in Spirit, never far from your thoughts and prayers.
I thank him for his service, you for raising him and supporting him as he serves and will certainly keep him in my prayers.
Godspeed Andrew.
This post put a cloud over my day in knowing that Andrew is in the Middle East. I have prayed for him before but I will pray for him more now that I know he is on mission.
I remember when I was five years old going to the train station with my parents to put my oldest brother on a train to leave for Germany to serve in the military. It was at night and the sound of the train's whistle was so mournful. I remember seeing him wearing his Army uniform and walking through the lighted passenger car to find his seat by the window. I remember waving and crying. So I know a little bit about what you must be feeling.
Just as my oldest brother returned from serving his county, we pray that Andrew will return praising God and telling of the Lord's protection. Bless all of you during your time of waiting.
@Sally ... Thank you for everything. xoxo
@Mari ... I know you know how it feels! xoxo
@Irene ... Thanks, my friend. xoxo
@Cheryl ... That story sent chills down my spine! It's so moving when they leave, and on a train, at night? Too much. I told Andrew what you said about the value of the work he is doing. He appreciated your words and I know he appreciates your prayers. xoxo
