What a weekend
Apropos of nothing much:
One of my favorite lines from Downton Abbey was when Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham, innocently asked the question:
Wha -- what is a weekend?
Haaaahahaha. Rich folks who never worked a day in their lives had no need to distinguish Monday through Friday from Saturday and Sunday.
Anyway. We wrung every last drop of fun from our weekend.
On Saturday we feted Dagny, who as you know had celebrated her third birthday on Wednesday, in fairly grand and stylish fashion. I will show you those pictures later this week.
Today I have time only for three shots from yesterday.
The first, you will have already divined, is a picture of Audrey hugging her dad while Andrew provides extra love.
Our pastor had said, at the end of Sunday morning's service, words to this effect:
If you're fortunate enough to have your dad with you, give him a hug and tell him you love him.
I looked at Audrey and said, words to this effect: I don't remember the last time I saw you hug your dad.
Because I don't. It's not that she doesn't love him; of course she does. Exceedingly. They all do.
You can see that.
But an actual all-out just-because hug-his-neck? Fairly rare.
Watch this, she said. We were all laughing and cutting up.
And it was so awesome, I grabbed my phone and said Hold that! Hold that! And they did.
Then all three kids who were present, lined up with their father to properly capture the moment.
Later, Andrew grilled steaks and brats for everyone at his house and we had a feast. Plus there were presents for TG.
After church on Sunday night, Allissa (who is here for the week) and Dagny demonstrated how to hug a light pole in the parking lot. Again: hashtag iPhoneography.
I think you'll agree that my grandchildren are passably photogenic. If I'm imagining it, don't tell me.
Today we're starting another busy week but I'll report back soon.
And that is all for now.

Happy Monday

You have such a beautiful family and.......that husband of yours? WOW! If I ever met him, I'd fall dead in a faint at his feet!
Your whole family is gorgeous!!!!!
Can see where they got their good looks from! From lovely you. And that handsome hunk of a man, they call father.
Hugs, hugs, hugs...
@Judy ... you would? I'd pay good money to see it! Haaahahaha! xoxo
@Luna ... you sweet thing. He certainly is handsome, and also sweet. xoxo
Well now - I would agree that those grandkids are passably photogenic - just like the rest of your gorgeous family! And I happen to know that you are all beautiful inside as well as outside. :)
I love the picture of the three kids with TG, because I see Andrew is holding his Bible. That says a lot.
TG is one blessed guy - glad you celebrated him so well!
TG is so blessed with a wonderful family, and they are not too shabby either!!!! What a great day that you all gave him!
I have never watched Downton Abbey. It was a little slow moving for me so I moved on. :) However, a lot of people loved it.
Looking forward to pictures of the birthday party. It seems like all you folks do is Pawty!
@Mari ... thanks my friend and the same can be said of your wonderful loving family. Andrew sang in the evening service! I wish you could have heard him. And we are the blessed ones to have our TG and Dad. xoxo
@Cheryl ... Yes we do party a lot, what with all these people with all these birthdays! Haahaaa! Even I wonder sometimes how we do it all. But it's so fun! We got some great pics this time. Stay tuned. xoxo
The hug photo is so candid and happy! Your family is a treasure. Love the girls hugging the pole - Dagny's boo-boo bandaid with her charming ensemble made me smile. (Sam is covered in boo-boo's!)
@Barb ... how wonderful to "see" you, friend! I missed you and was thinking of you earlier this week, wondering when you'd be back from lolling on the sand in California! Haaaahaha. Yes, Dagny is often full of boo-boos. If you ask her what kind of band-aid she's wearing, she belts out: Hello Kitty Fashions! Haaaahaha what a card. xoxo
