REMEMBRANCE

When I am gone

Please remember me

 As a heartfelt laugh,

 As a tenderness.

 Hold fast to the image of me

When my soul was on fire,

The light of love shining

Through my eyes.

Remember me when I was singing

And seemed to know my way.

Remember always

When we were together

And time stood still.

Remember most not what I did,

Or who I was;

Oh please remember me

For what I always desired to be:

A smile on the face of God.

You Want To Find This
The Promise Of Redemption

Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I BELIEVED, AND THEREFORE HAVE I SPOKEN; we also believe, and therefore speak;

Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

II Corinthians 4

THE DREAMERS

In the dawn of the day of ages,
 In the youth of a wondrous race,
 'Twas the dreamer who saw the marvel,
 'Twas the dreamer who saw God's face.

On the mountains and in the valleys,
By the banks of the crystal stream,
He wandered whose eyes grew heavy
With the grandeur of his dream.

The seer whose grave none knoweth,
The leader who rent the sea,
The lover of men who, smiling,
Walked safe on Galilee --

All dreamed their dreams and whispered
To the weary and worn and sad
Of a vision that passeth knowledge.
They said to the world: "Be glad!

"Be glad for the words we utter,
Be glad for the dreams we dream;
Be glad, for the shadows fleeing
Shall let God's sunlight beam."

But the dreams and the dreamers vanish,
The world with its cares grows old;
The night, with the stars that gem it,
Is passing fair, but cold.

What light in the heavens shining
Shall the eye of the dreamer see?
Was the glory of old a phantom,
The wraith of a mockery?

Oh, man, with your soul that crieth
In gloom for a guiding gleam,
To you are the voices speaking
Of those who dream their dream.

If their vision be false and fleeting,
If its glory delude their sight --
Ah, well, 'tis a dream shall brighten
The long, dark hours of night.

Playing Favorites :: Rosy Lips

It's so tiny and cute ... that is part of its charm. But only a tiny part.

They (whoever they are) say that all good things must come to an end.

And that people fall out of love approximately at the exact same rate that they fell in.

It's a well-known trope that even if a thing is excellent, it will do only until something better comes along.

I cannot believe that the words are coming out of me mouth, but this has happened with regard to my years-long love affair with Chap Stick Candy Cane.

I wrote all about that here, back in 2018.

On that occasion, in that blog post, I declared that my all-time favorite lip balm was the aforementioned Chap Stick (but only in the Candy Cane flavor).

I still love it, and still use it. There will always be a connection between us.

I also love, and also use, Carmex. I mean, c'mon, man! It's Carmex. And the C-A-R stands for caramel.

There's nothing wrong with that, and whole heap right with it.

I recently bought three new tubes to distribute randomly around the house.

For the simple reason that I cannot bear to have dry lips, which is what I will have if, in the absence of my signature red lippy, I fail to treat them with a balm.

So anyway.

I don't even remember now, how I became aware of Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips ... for soft, pink lips.

Ah! Just the description grabbed me. The word rosy. Also the utterly adorable diminutive packaging, which mimics a regular tub of plain old Vaseline.

Which is one of the greatest products ever to exist on the face of the earth.

I saw Rosy Lips online; not in person, like in a store. I think it was on Amazon. I'm pretty sure that I was not even looking for anything like that. It was serendipity.

At any rate, I bought it on the 'zon. Audrey has since found it at Target.

This was only a few months ago but already, this product has won my heart and become ...

Wait for it.

... my favorite.

Oh, I'll still reach for my Chap Stick Candy Cane, especially during the holidays when its festive pepperminty fragrance tends to put one in the Christmas spirit.

And it is still an excellent lip balm. Every bit as good as Carmex, which -- let's face it -- is pretty much the gold standard when it comes to such things.

(Classic Carmex original formula only; none of these gimmicky flavors they have come up with.)

But Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips? This is off the chain.

The color and consistency are pretty much perfect. And you need only a tiny bit.

I guess what I love the most about it, is its consistency. It's thick but in the best kind of way.

Not gooey or sticky or heavy on your lips, but very much there, providing a luxurious barrier between your lips and the air that makes them dry.

Besides, who is not totally down with having luscious, soft, pink lips? By the way, this product does not actually change the color of your lips. It just makes them happy, and as we know, the color of happy is pink.

Also it lasts and lasts. That may be my pet peeve with many lip therapy products: they are too thin and do not stay where they're put.

I don't want to have to apply lip balm every twenty to thirty minutes.

Rosy Lips has a truly magical fragrance, too. Light but definitely there. Clean but girly.

In fact it reminds me of another lip balm that is not really a lip balm, but is probably the best lip treatment (that is not a lip treatment) I have ever used until now, since I discovered Rosy Lips.

Allow me to explain.

Back in the '80s I bought and used Mary Kay Extra Emollient Night Cream. It's a lovely pink, just like Rosy Lips.

Back in the '80s I was in my 20s and did not really need a heavy night cream, except occasionally in the driest winter months.

But I used it on my lips and I believe it to be the best product in the world, bar none, for dry lips.

It's good for your face, too. A trace amount, mixed with a few drops of water, will make your skin dewy.

I don't have any of the Mary Kay Extra Emollient Night Cream and have not had any for at least ten years. Since it is so reasonably priced, I should get some. Just to have all bases covered.

There's another thing: Some lip balms have been known to put me off due to their scent.

You do wear it, after all, right under your nose.

Two that spring to mind are the Panama Jack Vanilla lip balm that I wrote about in 2018. It turned out to be too sweet-smelling for sustained use.

The other is Lancôme Absolue Precious Cells Nourishing Lip Balm.

Great product; luxurious consistency (if a trifle too sticky for my liking) and staying power on the lips.

But its perfuminess is just a little too much for me. Its price is too, if I'm being honest.

Teensy tiny tub. Huge results.

(I've only tried it because I have received it free when Lancôme was in gift; I would never buy it.)

But for less than two dollars, in my opinion you cannot beat Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips.

Not even with Carmex or the Mary Kay not-a-lip-balm cream.

Of those three, I would insist that Rosy Lips is first among equals.

It's now my favorite and it will take something pretty special to knock it off that perch.

I hope that if you're in the market for a new soothing lip balm -- or even if you are merely curious -- that you will try it, and soon, and let me know what you think.

And that is all for now.

Well - I am curious! I've not heard of this, but it is cute and I like the color, plus I trust the reviewer!

@Mari ... Get you some. xoxo

May 24, 2021 | Registered CommenterJennifer

I love an extensive review of a product, so this is great. I went back and read your Chapstick review as well, being a lip balm addict myself. I find the Chapstick and Burt’s Bees brands to be too waxy. I prefer the Chap Ice brand that I get for free from my dentist office. I also love the EOS lip balls because the formula is so smooth and lots of flavors. What I don’t like is the waste of it once it wears down, with lots of product left in the container. I’ve never tried the Vaseline ones because I don’t want to have to use my finger. I know, picky, picky!

May 25, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterBijoux

@Bijoux ... I totally hear you about sticking your finger into the lip balm. Although I did not point this out in my review, I noticed that in ratings on Amazon, some others mentioned not liking to get the product underneath their fingernails. I don't like that either, so I basically rake some out with my nail itself, and sort of do it that way but it is not my favorite way to transfer the product from the container to my lips. So, a tiny flaw. AND I hear you about the waxiness of the Chap Stick and Burt's Bees brand; I just like those two so much that I can overlook that part in the Candy Cane flavor. To me, it's worth it. BB used to make a wonderful lipstick/lip balm color version and there was a color (I forget the name now, it's been so long) that was a perfect pinky brown for summer. But they discontinued it and I have not used Burt's Bees lip products since then. I have never tried Chap Ice and I will get some if I see it while I'm out and about. I had a EOS ball once and I think I liked it overall but the fragrance was too fruity sweet. I cannot STAND a sweet smell on my lips. I thought the Panama Jack Vanilla would be okay since it smelled SO GOOD but it turned out to be too much. Oh well! Happy lip calming! xoxo

May 25, 2021 | Registered CommenterJennifer

Ohhhhh, I am sooooo relieved!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought for sure, that at the end of this post, you would say that this favorite product, had been discontinued!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh sigh, I am still trying to get this, out of my head.... The Discontinued ending I mean.

Wonderful, though! So many great products, which one has loved for years, get discontinued. That it gets almost run-of-the-mill.

But just in case... Just in case.... Since I said this and it is now out-in-the-universe.... Perhaps you should order a case or so, of them. Just in case. Just in case. Just in case.

And your nails!!!!! Adorable! You just keep topping yourself, with your nail treatments. -smile- Although, the sparkly ones, which you and your daughter wore, a bit ago... Guess those have to be my all-time-favorite. -smile-

Gentle hugs,

Well, you have me wanting to give this a try. :-) I like the idea it will make your lips have a little touch of pink.

May 25, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterCarla TePaske

@Mari-Nanci ... never fear! I just discovered this wonderful product so I have to believe that it is not in danger of being discontinued ... but you are correct~! Often when we love something so much, suddenly it is no longer available. I could blog about that topic alone. And it was my darling granddaughter who had the same nails as me, haaaaha ... she wore them better, I think! I am addicted to the press-on manicures ... not so good for the actual nails, unfortunately. I hope you get some rosy lips and try it, and like it! xoxo

@Carla ... I hope you try it and like it as much as I do! Everyone has their own criteria for something you actually wear on your face, so I understand that not all will agree with me. But I love it so much! xoxo

May 25, 2021 | Registered CommenterJennifer

Well, I just finished an order to Amazon and won't be doing another for a while I will just have to check this stuff out next time I'm in Target! I have a feeling that you favorite things posts are going to be costing me! I can't resist trying something so highly recommended!

May 25, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterJeanette

@Jeanette ... I know, right? It's a good thing that I probably won't favorite expensive things, haaahaha! Meanwhile I hope if you see rosy lips at Target, you'll pick up a tiny tub and give it a try. xoxo

May 25, 2021 | Registered CommenterJennifer

I've used Carmex for years but now will have to see if I can find Rosy lips. We have such low humidity here everything dries out so lip balm is something that gets used A LOT here in the desert :)

May 26, 2021 | Unregistered Commenterbetty

Now I think I need some of this! My previous favorites in lip balm have been a Peppermint Philisophy one and a little "tub" of something from a friend... it came from that expensive store for cosmetics..... I have forgotten the name... Euphoria? No... cannot remember. Drat! My lips feel so dry! Lol

May 26, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterGayla

@Betty ... If you like Carmex, I think you will love Rosy Lips ... I will point out that you may not like digging it out of its little tub, but I think you will like the product enough to work around that. Let me know! xoxo

@Gayla ... Sephora? I never go in there but my girls love it and I'm sure they have all manner of lovely lip balms! I think you will like this product and I hope you'll try it and let me know what you think! I did not know hat Philosophy offered a peppermint lip balm. I'd be tempted to try that! xoxo

May 26, 2021 | Registered CommenterJennifer

I must keep something on my lips, (especially if I'm outdoors) because of the dry/cool air in the mountains (and the sun at high altitude). Often I wear an Aveda lipstick that I like in a cranberry color. It's the only cosmetic I wear now. However, sometimes if I'm going into the garden, I put a thin film of Vaseline on my lips. It doesn't take much. I like this little container that could fit in a purse. My Vaseline is in a huge pot. It's my go-to salve for anything dry, chapped, or rubbed.

June 1, 2021 | Unregistered CommenterBarb

@Barb ... Vaseline is indeed a wonder product. I have seen you in that cranberry lipstick and it looks smashing on you. xoxo

I found it last night shopping at Woodman's. :-) I like it. Thank you for the review.. I would have had no idea about it with out you sharing.
