She was better than her word
Don't you just love bloggy friends?
I do.
Recently I told you about winning a book.
That was because I'm a faithful reader of fascinating Cottage Days & Journeys, a blog owned and operated by the very talented Donna of Knoxville, Tennessee.
If you only add one blog to your reading list, let it be this one. You won't be sorry.
Donna has an official blog greeter, the irrepressible Marty. Marty is a bunny rabbit. He was allowed to pick the name of the book winner out of the hat, and he chose MINE!
I do believe I owe Marty a carrot.
Not only did Donna send me the book I won -- a remarkable pictorial biography of the late Mae Phillips entitled Roll the Wheel -- but she enclosed two beaded bookmarks (which were immediately pressed into service), two beautiful handmade tissue pack covers, and the most cunning little map of Vancouver, British Columbia.
I love to read and I am always reading more than one book at a time, so double bookmarks (with sparkly BEADS!) were most welcome. And I cry a lot (tears of joy mostly), so the double tissue holders will come in very handy.
And the map of Vancouver? Well, I just love ... make that adore ... maps.
But how did Donna KNOW all this? Could it be I am as transparent as the Obama administration claims to be?
I think Marty told her.
Make that two carrots for Marty. Smarty.
To top off something that needed no off-topping, tucked inside the gift box was this incredibly beautiful HANDMADE card created from Donna's original photography:
Which made me totally want to know how to do that, so I asked Donna some questions about it via email, and she sent back at least five links to excellent tutorials about how to make a photograph into a beautiful art-card.
Donna's just like that. Very eager to help when asked. I like that about her.
But I still don't think I can do what she did to that horse and that card, so I will ask Donna to show me some stuff on the computer WHEN I MEET HER and her husband next Monday at their gorgeous new East Tennessee home, Grey Havens!
Yes, I am going to Knoxville and yes, I have been invited to lunch.
How 'bout that for ultra-nice bloggy-friend goings-on?
You know I'll post a full report after the fact.
And tell all your friends I'm planning my second-ever IHATH blog giveaway to take place in November!
Stay tuned. You don't want to miss this.

Lucky, lucky you! I love the bookmarks and the card is great. Have a great time on your trip!
You are lucky, I actually found your blog through Donna's blog. I love it when she talks camera. She most certainly talented. I love the double tissue holder, we must be sisters from another life. I cry alot too. I was having guests today and thought "Oh my, I'm out of tissues," I've been reading. I was hoping that none of my guest had to sneeze. I'm so glad you won.
Aaaww, Miz Jenny, you are just too kind! My head is going to swell and pop from all those sweet things you said about me! And you have Marty pegged quite well. he is very irrespessible and also a bit of a rogue (but a harmless one).
We are so excited that you are coming to visit! And I would be honored to sit down at the computer and teach you a few photoshop tricks. Easy-peasy!
I am so glad that you love all the little extras I put in the box. Yes, Marty deserves that extra carrot for making you so happy!
Gollly, I'm sorry that I didn't spell irrespressible correctly. It was Marty's fault. (Sounds like a familiar excuse, LOL?)
Hooray for bloggy-friend visits! You'd better not be flying to Knoxville, Tennessee, that's all I have to say about that! How far is Tennessee from you, anyway? Now that I have the Carolinas' geography down, i suppose I should start working on some of the other states over/down there.
@Mari ... thanks and I'm sure I will!
@Irene ... you found my blog through Donna? I didn't know that! And she sure can "talk camera." I'm hoping to learn a lot from her! Sisters from another life is a nice idea! I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.
@Donna M. ... not at all. Marty's carrots are en route. And I like the word "irrespessible."
@Hobbit ... girl you must be kidding ... Knoxville is only a four-hour drive from here. Me FLY? Not if I can help it. LOLOLOL I've made that trip so many times I could practically do it blindfolded! Only that wouldn't be advisable when going through the Great Smokies.
That Miz Donna is a Keeper!! Isn't she a Doll? Her work is Beautiful...I'll Never be able to do things like she does!
How F-U-N to be able to meet in person!! That Marty!!Hahaaa....little carrot grabber!!Hahaaaa.....
ENJOY your trip sweetie!!
LOVE your prizes!!!
hughugs
Ha! I think the word should be "irrepissable" now that I have a bit of a sore throat. Please start taking Airborne or zinc tablets before you come because someone's cooties have been flung at me and somehow stuck.
You made out like a bandit~! I'm jeal. : )
@Donna ... I'm totally jazzed about meeting Marty and Donna! And learning some of that girl's photographysecrets!
@Donna M. ... girl eat your Wheaties, take two aspirin, drink plenty of liquids, and get some rest because I'm comin' to see ya!
@Audrey ... DBJ ... LOLOL
