REMEMBRANCE

When I am gone

Please remember me

 As a heartfelt laugh,

 As a tenderness.

Hold fast to the image of me

When my soul was on fire,

The light of love shining

Through my eyes.

Remember me when I was singing

And seemed to know my way.

Remember always

When we were together

And time stood still.

Remember most not what I did,

Or who I was;

Oh please remember me

For what I always desired to be:

A smile on the face of God.

You Want To Find This
The Promise Of Redemption

Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I BELIEVED, AND THEREFORE HAVE I SPOKEN; we also believe, and therefore speak;

Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

II Corinthians 4

THE DREAMERS

In the dawn of the day of ages,
In the youth of a wondrous race,
'Twas the dreamer who saw the marvel,
'Twas the dreamer who saw God's face.

On the mountains and in the valleys,
By the banks of the crystal stream,
He wandered whose eyes grew heavy
With the grandeur of his dream.

The seer whose grave none knoweth,
The leader who rent the sea,
The lover of men who, smiling,
Walked safe on Galilee --

All dreamed their dreams and whispered
To the weary and worn and sad
Of a vision that passeth knowledge.
They said to the world: "Be glad!

"Be glad for the words we utter,
Be glad for the dreams we dream;
Be glad, for the shadows fleeing
Shall let God's sunlight beam."

But the dreams and the dreamers vanish,
The world with its cares grows old;
The night, with the stars that gem it,
Is passing fair, but cold.

What light in the heavens shining
Shall the eye of the dreamer see?
Was the glory of old a phantom,
The wraith of a mockery?

Oh, man, with your soul that crieth
In gloom for a guiding gleam,
To you are the voices speaking
Of those who dream their dream.

If their vision be false and fleeting,
If its glory delude their sight --
Ah, well, 'tis a dream shall brighten
The long, dark hours of night.

Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it, have never known it again.

Are You A Racist?

Things have become so simple in America since November 4, 2008: If you're not a liberal, you're a racist! No middle ground. But in case you still have doubts about which one you are, take a listen as Andrew Klavan expounds on the topic in his own inimitable style, which is to say, tongue firmly in cheek:

By the way ... in the unlikely event you don't "get" my sarcasm, I'm neither a liberal nor a racist! I'm a card-carrying member of the religious right. Because to quote the great conservative standardbearer Rush Limbaugh, it's not a matter of right versus left. It's a matter of right versus wrong.

Tweets 4 Truth

The secret is out: I am a Tweep. Which is to say, I am active on Twitter. Facebook holds no appeal for me. Never got into MySpace either. Of course I'm sold on blogging. But when I discovered Twitter and figured out what it was all about, I was hooked.

What intrigues me about Twitter is the endless dialog condensed into 140-character "tweets" that can be read and digested in a few seconds. Often included are helpful links that lead to more lengthy and even more compelling reading.

Twitter involves "following" -- and being followed by -- others. You follow those whose tweets you think you might find interesting or enlightening. With few exceptions, and for obvious reasons, I primarily follow and am followed by staunch conservatives and fellow Christians.

I mean, if you're not conservative or a Christian, you're not going to want to read my tweets for very long. So of my 2,062 (at this writing) Twitter followers, almost all are on the same page politically and many are of like faith.

Of course, as with anything else, there is the odd anomaly.

Libs are like vampires. They love darkness and death, run screaming from light and the cross of Christ.

Some days I am particularly inspired to tweet my feelings about liberalism. I know: big surprise; right? Bwaaaaahaha. Today was one such day. I began with this tweet, which occurred to me while I was in the shower:

Conservatism: Live and Let Live. Liberalism: Die and Make Die.

Warming to my topic, that tweet was followed by these in more or less rapid succession:

Liberalism is the collective embodiment of the expression "Misery Loves Company."

Conservatism tends to achievement, happiness, and life. Liberalism tends to degradation, misery, and death.

Women & children are elevated & protected by conservatism but enslaved & embattled by liberalism.

Men are demeaned & emasculated by liberalism but are empowered & made more virile by conservatism.

I was getting my fair share of re-tweets -- that's when people like what you tweeted and re-post it for the benefit of their followers -- and so naturally I waxed eloquent.

Liberals defend terrorists beause liberals ARE terrorists. They threaten life daily in every corner of society.

When it comes to conservatism, as in everything else, you need to either get in or get out. There's not much middle ground.

Know how you know liberalism is a lie? It rejects God. God is truth. "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life."

At this juncture I began to hear from a few libs who, though they do not follow me and as such would not ordinarily have the pleasure of reading my tweets, got a peek at them through the miracle of re-tweeting. As you might imagine, their tweets back to me were angry and laden with profanity.

That's when one of my followers, who describes himself as conservative but an atheist, directed this tweet to me:

>>>> got some play w/ that one the libs r screaming <<<<

He was referring to my tweet about liberals defending terrorists because they are themselves terrorists. So I replied:

Libs are like vampires. They love darkness and death, run screaming from light and the cross of Christ.

I continued:

Anyone who would murder EVEN ONE defenseless baby while defending EVEN ONE Islamic terrorist, is himself a TERRORIST.

Liberalism rejects faith-based morality -- or ANY sort of morality -- in favor of godless secular humanism.

Then I heard from my atheist friend again:

>>>> I run from cross 2 but not the light of day what does make me? <<<<

And the only answer I could think of was:

Lost.

I followed that tweet with this one:

Jesus Christ is the light of the world. Those who reject Him walk in darkness. Politics don't enter into it.

We are born sinners & must obtain forgiveness & sonship thru the shed blood of Christ, our sinless Savior.

Then I heard again from one of the angry liberals:

>>>> Abortion is a choice what makes u think u have the right 2 tell someone else what 2 do with their body? <<<<

To which I responded:

Abortion is murder of an innocent human being. What makes you think anyone has the right to do that?

Sadly, that was the end of that discussion because I didn't hear from her again. But did hear from my atheist tweep:

>>>> The fact that U believe I'm the one that is lost because I don't believe what U believe is very telling about U open ur eyes <<<<

I hoped I hadn't made an enemy of him. I tweeted:

My eyes are wide open, my friend. I made a decision long ago to accept the truth. I am a sinner saved by grace.

And then:

BTW it has nothing to do with your believing what I believe. It has to do with believing God and His Word.

He responded:

>>>> I believe in the bad in all ppl not just libs. The bad nature of all ppl <<<<

So I said:

True. We are born sinners & must obtain forgiveness & sonship thru the shed blood of Christ, our sinless Savior.

And he said:

>>>> I don't have problem w/ ur belief but u seem have a problem w/ my no belief <<<<

I replied:

I don't "have a problem" with your unbelief. I simply point out that you are in need of the Savior, as am I and everyone else.

And he replied:

>>>> One thing u r right about me is I am a born SINNER & luv it & want my freedom 2 do it. No offence intended. <<<<

And I assured him:

None taken, my friend. You were created by God a free agent. I'm praying for you today.

He responded politely:

>>>> Thx maybe it will help but I dought it thx though <<<<

I'm still praying for the man who wrote that. And although I don't think he'll see it because I doubt he reads my blog, after exchanging those tweets with him this morning, this song has continually played in my mind. I'm so glad I know what it means and I pray that someday he will too.

And I'll go on tweeting the truth as long as Jesus lets me.

You Lie! And That's The Truth!

My Congressman, Joe Wilson, demonstrated the audacity of NOPE during Chairman Maobama's televised address to a joint meeting of Congress last week.

The beleaguered president had actually been lying for some time (during the speech, I mean) when Congressman Wilson, seated in the section where folks were not moved to ovate every 40 seconds, finally reached his quota and shouted "You lie!" loudly enough for the whole world to hear.

Amazingly, pro-life Congressman Wilson kept his own counsel earlier in the speech when President Obama had the gall to assert that his new healthcare plan will not fund abortions in the United States (which Federal tax dollars already do, by the way ... not only in America but in foreign countries).

When we say we want our country back, what we really mean is "I want my white guy back."

You lie!

Dear Leader went on to vociferously assert that his new healthcare plan will NOT provide healthcare coverage -- courtesy of the American taxpayer -- for millions of illegal aliens who, thanks to our government's penchant for winking at their wrongdoing, for some time have been the collective poster child for a near-total parasitic existence ... much to our national detriment.

That's when Joe Wilson lost it, uttering two words that turned out to be the truest -- evidenced by the fact that they are currently the most hotly disputed -- words spoken in the venerable venue on that fateful night.

You lie!

Left-wing harpy and New York Times "columnist" Maureen Dowd opined that when Joe Wilson shouted "You lie!" what he really said was "You lie, boy!" She claims that Barack Obama is "at the center of a period of racial turbulence sparked by his ascension." According to Dowd, Obama is the "ultimate civil rights figure" whose "legitimacy" is constantly challenged by a "loco fringe."

You lie!

Left-wing harpy and "comedienne" Janeane Garofalo told MSNBC's Keith Olbermann back in April that any dissent regarding President Obama's policies is "racism straight up." More recently she asserted that when we say we want our country back, what we really mean is "I want my white guy back."

You lie!

Left-wing harpy and "actress" Demi Moore and her boy-toy husband, "actor" Ashton Kutcher, got a bunch of "celebrities" together shortly after President Obama's inauguration and made a video. On it, the celebs "pledge" to do stuff like refusing plastic bags at the grocery store from now on, or drinking less bottled water, or getting rid of their obnoxious SUV's, or flushing the toilet less, or smiling at their neighbors more, or making fewer obscene gestures while driving.

Explore your options before your "boy" gets his healthcare reform bill passed, or you may be waiting a long time.

One person featured in the video flexes his heavily-tattooed biceps and noisily kisses each one to punctuate his pledge "to be a servant to Barack smack! Obama smack!"

The Kutcher family celebrity pledge video attempts to leave the viewer with the impression that all of the above will help the environment and transform America into a better place to live and make it so that we can stay on this planet "forever."

You lie!

Have you ever noticed that the most surefire way to give a liberal a case of the fantods is to tell him the truth?

Barack Obama DOES lie. Abortions ARE heavily funded in his healthcare bill. Coverage IS afforded to illegals in his bill.

Because if he didn't and they weren't and it wasn't, the pro-aborts and the left-wing loons would be braying in protest. Since they are not, you may rest assured that the requirements of these and other, equally nefarious and greedy, special-interest groups are satisfactorily -- nay, amply -- met by H.R. 3200.

No, Ms. Dowd; Joe Wilson did NOT say "You lie, boy!" He said "You lie!" And that's all he said, and that's precisely what he meant. He said it because it was true, and not because he once belonged to the Sons of Confederate Veterans, or had issues with Strom Thurmond's illegitimate mulatto daughter, or because he wanted to keep the Confederate flag waving atop our State House in 2000.

You're hearing things, Moron Maureen. You should get that checked out. Perhaps a shrink. Perhaps meds, or four-point restraints. Explore your options before your "boy" gets healthcare reform passed, or you may be waiting a long time.

No, Ms. Garofalo; the cries of millions of patriotic Americans desperate to reclaim our country is NOT simply peevish racist whining for a white guy in the White House.

Once you reject the very notion that there is any such thing as absolute truth, it's open season on morality of even the most basic sort.

If Barack Obama were white -- or even yellow or green, or pink-and-purple-polka-dotted -- thinking Americans would still be dismayed and outraged by his radical agenda, his terrorist buddies, his pandering to the Muslim world, and his hard-left push toward socialism.

If the 2008 presidential election had been won by a man as black as Barack Obama -- or even blacker -- who was conservative, anti-abortion, a Christian, and in favor of limited government, you and your "cerebral electorate" would be screaming bloody murder. You know it's true. Would that make you racist? Or are only conservatives capable of racism?

Oh, and Janeane? You seriously need to wash your hair.

No, Demi and cohorts; I won't refuse plastic bags at the grocery store or stop flushing my toilet. I don't drive an SUV or drink bottled water or make obscene gestures to my fellow drivers, but if I did I wouldn't stop those things either. I already smile at my neighbors. I don't believe in trashing our environment, but unlike you, I am cognizant of the fact that the "green" movement is a scam.

I'll bet you a carbon penance that with my modest lifestyle, if there were such a thing as a "carbon footprint" (which there isn't), mine would be far less significant than the one left by you or any of your potty-mouthed pals in that joke of a YouTube video.

Oh, and Demi? At least I never burdened the world with a banal strip tease "movie."

No, bicep-bussing weirdsmobile on the Kutcher family home video; I will never pledge to be a servant to any president of any ideological ilk. I pledge to serve only God, my country, and my fellow man. Oh, and real butter. Period.

The situation can be summed up in one sentence: We are engaged in the classic struggle of good versus evil.

Liberals come unglued when anyone suggests that there is a moral component to life. Conservatives come unglued when the liberal agenda threatens to bankrupt our society fiscally, socially, and morally.

Integral to all liberal philosophies is the idea that there is no God to whom humans are accountable. And once you reject the very notion that there is any such thing as absolute truth, it's open season on morality of even the most basic sort.

That's what Joe Wilson's commanding "You lie!" was all about.

And that's the truth.

Purity: Unpopular But Still Possible

Where is it written that it is understood and assumed by society at large that people are required to be sexually active prior to marriage, or outside the bonds of matrimony?

Is there a way to debunk the pervasive notion that there is no other course of behavior available to human beings?

Can we at least agree to NOT agree that kids are simply "going to do it" no matter what, and that "kids" now means people as young as seven years old, and not even someone who has reached puberty?

And can we agree that it is a bald-faced LIE that there is not a blessed thing any of us can do to prevent our children from surrendering their purity as casually as one might hand over a fifty-cent coupon at the grocery store?

While we're asking so many questions, how about one more: Has the entire world gone stark staring mad?

Speaking of questions, "What set her off?" is one you might be asking yourself at this juncture.

If that's liberation, I will gladly accept the "slavery" of boundaries designed to preserve both personal purity and the sanctity of human life.

I am glad you asked. I've been stewing for awhile over an inquiry made by a physician to one of my daughters.

The question was straightforward: "How do you keep from getting pregnant?"

"Okay," you might say. "Fair question for a doctor to ask."

But the problem is, he's her dermatologist.

(Or more accurately, was her dermatologist. Since asking the question, he has been relieved of that duty.)

See, he had just asked my daughter, a beautiful young woman (who, though 20-something, is single and, as such, is unapologetically a virgin), whether she is "on the Pill."

In my opinion that's a valid query for a skin doctor to make of a girl my daughter's age. After all, if she were "on the Pill" (which she's not), it could affect her skin.

But when she responded "No," he persisted. Wanted to know how, in light of her Pill-lessness, she keeps from getting pregnant.

I call that creepy.

(And lest you doubt, I informed him of that opinion. In writing.)

My daughter -- who is neither backward nor naive -- provided an answer as succinct as it was truthful: "I abstain."

"Oh!" He responded.

I daresay it had been awhile since that archaic method of avoiding pregnancy had occurred to him as an option for young, unmarried girls.

She abstains. What a novel idea. Because she is single, my daughter is not sexually active. Alert the media! Call Oprah! Call CNN! Call Fox News! Groundbreaking: there is a freak girl living in America who chooses to remain pure until marriage!

Except that no, she isn't. A freak, that is. And that no, it isn't. Groundbreaking, that is. Or at least, it shouldn't be.

Is there any reason why, when it comes to sexual purity, so many adults are unwilling to tell it like it is?

To wit:

According to The New York Times, as of May, 2008, one-fourth of the white girls and one-half of the black girls in America aged 14-19 are infected with sexually transmitted diseases. Many of them have more than one STD. These are diseases they will carry with them throughout life and which will affect their relationships and the health of their children, and which in many cases will contribute to their own early death from illnesses such as cervical cancer.

Not to mention, the behavior that results in such dire infections also often produces children ... fifty million of whom have been slaughtered since 1973, when women were supposedly "liberated" by the Supreme Court decision in historic Roe v. Wade.

If that's liberation, I will gladly accept the "slavery" of boundaries designed to preserve both personal purity and the sanctity of human life.

It is undeniable that the vast majority of the suffering being caused by STDs today could have been avoided if these young women had been taught and encouraged to refrain from illicit sexual activity.

And if they had been helped by responsible adults to adhere to that standard.

Because I am fully aware that, while the goal of remaining pure until marriage is certainly attainable, it is also highly idealistic.

But it is important enough that I can unequivocally say that if you do nothing else for your daughters (and sons, if you dare), teach them that at the very least, it is unwise to engage in sexual activity before marriage.

Mine is not a popular viewpoint. I am aware of that.

You don't have to approach it from a moral standpoint if you're not comfortable with that. Simply do it for her (and his) own health, welfare, and happiness.

(Although I make no apology for believing -- and having taught my four children -- that, according to Scripture, we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" by our Creator.  And that with acceptance of "so great salvation" comes great responsibility.)

Whatever your motivation, if you commit to this course for the sake of your children, be prepared to be inconvenienced by extreme peer pressure (provided by other young people and, sadly, even their parents) and the considerable rigors of supervising adolescents.

When your children were babies you cared for their physical bodies and -- I hope -- did whatever was necessary to protect them from illness and abuse.

It is real devotion to continue that same loving watchfulness all the way to the altar.

Yes; I realize that all sorts of bad things happen to people even when they've kept themselves for marriage and endeavored to make a good marriage. We are not perfect and we do not inhabit a perfect world.

More's the pity.

And no; mine is not a popular viewpoint. I am aware of that. Absolute truth -- particularly with a moral twist -- is rarely embraced or lauded by the masses.

So be it.
